
1966 Shelby GT 350 HISTORY: The Shelby Mustang was created in 1965 to allow the Mustang to compete successfully in SCCA racing. The 1966 Shelby GT 350 had functional side scoops and a 289 cubic inch engine specially modified by Shelby to produce 306 hp. In total, there were 1,379 1966 Shelby Mustang fastbacks produced in 1966 and 4 convertibles. This particular Shelby had a list price of $2,975.75. It was purchased new in December of 1966 in Oklahoma City by a then 18 year old Jay Smith. The car stayed in the Oklahoma City area till purchased by its current owner. It was been frame-off restored to original condition in the late 80s and early 90s and the car has essentially 100% original, 1966 parts. The milage, 10,3XX, is correct and it is believed to be the lowest documented mile 1966 Shelby in existence. |
